It is with sad regret and many tears that we tell of the passing of our first ever pug Nemo on January 6, 2010. He lived a life full of treats, love, and as much adoration as we could give.
Many ask where Nemo's name came from. Contrary to first impression, he wasn't named after Nemo the fish, but after Captain Nemo of the Nautilus from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne.
Maggie's name was picked for two reasons, one it was a name that sounded just so adorable for such a sweet girl, and another was Maggie is an AI with the intelligence of a 2 year old from the book Hellspark by Janet Kagan (Mommy's favorite book ever).
Nemo came from fantastic breeders in the Alberta (Canada) area, Poul & Moraine Kirby-Green, who have since moved to Sycamore Lane Kennels in Lodi, California. And Maggie came from a wonderful breeder in Alberta - Leanna Mottus (403-318-6234).
